First Grade had an amazing week! This week we finished reading an information text titled, Going to School, which highlights schools around the world. We continued learning about place value as well as needs and wants in Social Studies. We also created artwork that will be shown at Open House.

Spelling
This week spelling words follow the <ay> spelling pattern.
Reading
This week we will begin our third unit and new story! Students will read about playing fair and following the rules using the characters of the story. We will be working with distinguishing long and short vowel sounds as well as <sh> and <th> digraphs.
Grammar
We will learn about prepositions and identify the parts of speech in sentences.
Writing
In writing we will writing How To reports. Be sure to check them out at Open House!
Math
We will be wrapping up ch. 6 which is about place value. We will take our chapter test on Thursday.
Social Studies
We are continuing to learn about the importance of goods, and services, as well as, using information to help form decisions. We will be reviewing our map skills while practicing with the cardinal directions.
Religion
This week we will look at the sacrament of Baptism and how we become a part of the Church.
