Week of February 8th-12th

Hello First Grade Families!

We had a much better week this week compared to last. We showed great growth in our decision making and are able to better recognize our mistakes.  We completed our chapter 7 in Math and rhymed lots of ‘y’ words.

Each student continues to amaze me on how they are growing in both reading and math! While reading Hunter’s Money Jar students volunteered to read and did exceptionally well.

We are really working on staying safe and following our classroom rules. We want to continue to be in school and know how important it is to be safe. We talked about being safe at recess and while being in class with others.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day and made a beautiful craft and played BINGO! We had oreos and mnms as a special treat!

**Just a reminder Monday February 15th we DO NOT have school**

Up Next…

In spelling we will be focusing on the <ow> pattern.

Coming up in Reading we will continue reading Hunter’s Money Jar. We will also be rereading The Winner’s Choice and comparing the two texts.

In Math we will be beginning Chapter 8 where we will be adding and subtracting two digit numbers

Social Studies we will be finishing up Unit 3 where we will show our knowledge of jobs, services and goods. We will test on Thursday.

In Religion we will be discussing Lent. Ash Wednesday is this coming Wednesday and we will be receiving ashes in the classroom. We will be looking to make greater connections with our faith these next few weeks.

*We are always in need of baby wipes and disinfecting wipes. We use about 200 disinfecting wipes and 125 baby wipes a week!*

Please continue to let me know if you have any questions/comments.

Thank you!
