Week of January 18th-22nd

Hello First Grade Families!

We had a great short week back in school! It is so nice to be back in school. I am incredibly proud of all that the students did during remote learning. I collected all the work and will be returning them soon.

We began our Catholic Schools Week activity that follows “What A Wonderful World”. Ask your first grader which line they have!

We are really working on staying safe and following our classroom rules. We want to continue to be in school and know how important it is to be safe. We talked about being safe at recess and while being in class with others.

Up Next…

In spelling we will be focusing on the <ea> pattern.

We will continue our “What a Wonderful World” Activity until all students have completed their work. After we will move onto our new story, Hunter’s Money Jar, and discuss saving and spending money.

We will complete Chapter 6 which helped us work with base ten units to show and compare numbers. We will review and test at the end of the week. The bigger the numbers the more challenging showing and counting them become. Please make sure you are completing the homework with your student.

In Science we will complete our chapter about Plants. This has been the perfect chapter to begin at home since we have so much background knowledge. We will test on Tuesday and move into Social Studies.

In Religion we will be reviewing the sacraments and their importance. We will be focusing on Baptism and how this is the start of our Catholic Journey.

*We are always in need of baby wipes and disinfecting wipes. We use about 200 disinfecting wipes and 125 baby wipes a week!*

Please continue to let me know if you have any questions/comments.

Thank you!

Miss Katlyn Payne
