Week of March 4th-8th

First Grade had a great short week!  Last week we celebrated Dr. Seuss Read Across America Week. We had so much fun reading and rhyming along! This week we began reading our new story; Goods and Services. We began chapter 9 in math which focuses on nonstandard measurement and time to the hour and half hour.

Looking ahead to next week we will be learning…

Spelling

This week spelling words follow the <oi> spelling pattern.

Reading

This week we will continue Goods and Services as well as introduce our next story Supermarket. We will discuss producers, consumers, taxes as well as the idea of a supermarket.

Grammar

We will focus contractions and making nouns plural.

Writing

In writing we will begin writing Opinion Pieces.

Math

We will continue Chapter 9 and begin learning about time.

Science

We will wrap up our discussion on rocks, soil and natural resources.

Religion

This week we will be focusing on the Last Supper. We will imagine Jesus’ followers and how they felt during that time. We will begin to plan our Mass; Washing of the Feet Prayer Service.
