Week of October 14-18

What a fun week we had in first grade! We finished our stories, Stellaluna and Dragons and Giants. We learned how to use our doubles facts in math to help us add. In Religion we learned how Jesus taught his followers to pray.

Our spelling list will follow the <ff> pattern this coming week.

In Language Arts we will begin our next story, A Fine, Fine School. We will identify the main story elements and use our inquiry skills (science cross curricular) to predict what we think will happen.

In Math we will continue learning and applying new addition strategies. We will be slowing down our pace for now so that we can really practice each strategy and show our understanding.

In Science we will continue to learn and use our inquiry skills. We will look at how scientists work and think. Students will end the week by thinking of an invention that has helped them and think of the original design.

In Religion we will learn how much Jesus loved us. We will read and discuss how Jesus taught his disciples and how they continued to teach after he rose from the dead.
