Week of October 26-30

Hello First Grade Families!

We had an amazing Red Ribbon Week in first grade! We began our new unit in reading and read A Fine, Fine School. Ask your first grader if they would want to be like Tillie. We looked at each story element and gave many details and reasons to our opinions. We continue to use our ipads to work in iReady where student are provided lessons for their own level of learning.

Thank you for helping make Red Ribbon Week and Halloween so much fun. We had an absolute blast with our Halloween events! Thank you to all who helped make it possible! We loved seeing those spooky cars in the car parade and all the special treats received.

Up Next…

In spelling we will be focusing on the <ck> pattern.

In Reading/Writing we will continue our new story A Fine, Fine School and make predictions about what will happen next. We will also be focusing on opinions and their reasons.

We will conclude our Chapter 3 in Math. We will show all of our addition strategies that we learned when we take our test on Friday 11/6.

Science continues to challenge our thinking and make us think like a scientist. We will share our knowledge and take our first science test on Thursday 11/5. Watch out for a study guide to come home.

In Religion we will watch a weekly mass, as well as discuss how we can grow as disciples of Jesus. We will look at the parish as a Church and how it grew to be.

We are always in need of baby wipes and disinfecting wipes. We use about 200 disinfecting wipes and 125 baby wipes a week!

Please continue to let me know if you have any questions/comments.

Thank you!
