Religion:   We will continue to learn about the beginning of Pentecost.  We will also learn about the mission the Apostles were given by Jesus.  Please look for the November Prayer in your child’s homework folder on Monday, November 2nd.  Prayers will be due Friday, November 20th on FlipGrid.

Reading:  The students will work to identify the main idea of “The Moon Seems to Change” as they learn about text features such as: table of contents, captions, and illustrations.  We will have a quiz about “The Moon Seems to Change” on Friday.

Phonics:  Students  will be review the R CONTROLLED VOWELS and the sounds they make in words.  The class will continue to work with syllables and digraphs as well.  The students will review various skills as they complete Grammar Simple Solutions Lessons 41 – 44 and take a quiz on Friday.

Spelling:  The spelling words this week will contain the long i sound when it is spelled i or igh.  The students will have spelling homework on both Tuesday and Thursday nights.  Please encourage your child to use their BEST hand writing and to FOLLOW all directions.  Please also help your child to remember to turn their home work in on time.

Math:  This week we will begin our first chapter about multiplication.  We will be learning about these terms as we work through the chapter:  array, Commutative Property of Multiplication, Equal Groups, Factor, Identity Property of Multiplication, Product, and the Zero Property of Multiplication.  Please invest in a set of Multiplication flash cards so that you can work with your child at home as well.  The students should be working on Simple Solution Lessons 41 – 44 this week.

Science:  Our chapter in Science has us learning about the steps of the Engineering and design process.   We will be looking at the way technology has changed in order to make our lives easier.  Please look for information about our November Project about the changes / improvement in technology in your child’s homework folder on Monday, November 2nd.  These projects will be due Monday, November 23rd.  I will have a sign up sheet on Google Classroom with a list of ideas to choose from on Monday as well.
