Things to Remember for the Week
Please send a St. Cletus sweatshirt or sweater to wear through out the winter months because our windows will always be open to let in fresh air.
Monday, Dec 7th: Spanish and Gym
Tuesday, Dec 8th: Art. Feast of the Immaculate Conception. We will view Mass

Religion: Tuesday we will watch Mass in honor of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. We will also be learning about the meaning behind ADVENT. Look for a handmade calendar listing the ADVENT events that St. Cletus is hosting during the Advent season.
Reading: The students will continue learning to use the Annotation symbols as we read “About the Earth.” We will use the pictures in the story to gain further knowledge of the earth’s surface. The test for “About the Earth” will be on Thursday, December 10th.
Phonics: The students will be reviewing how to add the suffixes -ed and -ing to base words that end in an -e. They will also learn how to add the suffixes -ful, -ly, -ness and -y to the end of base words. Using Grammar Simple Solutions the class will review how to make words plural, identify adverbs and the verbs they describe as well as using adjectives to describe nouns.. The class will take a Grammar Simple Solution quiz on Friday, Dec 11th.
Spelling: The spelling words this week contain the soft g (sounds like /j/) and c (sounds like /s/). Tuesday night’s homework will have the students sorting the words into soft g or c sounds as well as completing the words as they add ge or ce to the ends of the words. PLEASE encourage your child to use their BEST and NEATEST handwriting on this sheet. Thursday the students will have handwriting homework using the spelling words. PLEASE encourage you child to follow the arrows as they CAREFULLY trace the dotted letter. PLEASE also encourage your child to use their BEST printing as they write the spelling words two more time on the lines provided.
Math: The class will be working with the Commutative (ex: 6×7 or 7×6), Distributive (ex: 6×7=6x(5+2)=) and Associative (ex: 2x(3×4) = (2×3)x4) properties of Multiplicaion to find products. I have posted help videos from THINK CENTRAL in GOOGLE CLASSROOM for you to view as you work with your child on their homework for the week. The students should be completing the next four lessons from MATH SIMPLE SOLUTIONS 57, 58, 59, & 60 to help them prepare for a quiz on Friday, December 11th.
Social Studies: This week the students will learn about the lives of immigrants Jane Adams, Mary Antin and Emanuel Gotlieb Leutze and how they exemplified good citizenship through out their lives.
