Religion:  On Monday, March 18th,  as part of our Easter preparation our students will  be participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. On Tuesday we will attend an all school Mass.  On March 21 the third graders will be leading the Stations of the Cross at 2:15  in the afternoon. Please join us for this lovely Lenten prayer tradition. Each student will recite the March prayer on March 29th.

Phonics: Students will be reviewing  prefixes, suffixes  base words and dividing  words into syllables. They will have unit 6 test on Friday March 22nd.

Language: The March poem will be recited on Tuesday, March 19th.

Spelling: This week spelling unit # 26 consists of  words that have double consonants in the middle of the word and a “y” ending.  Words tested will be: carry, bunny, happy, muddy, berry, furry, puppy, sorry, merry, jelly, hurry, pretty, cherry, worry and funny.  The Unit 26 tests will be on Friday, March 22nd. 

Reading:   We will have the concluding test on the novel, The Year of Miss Agnes on Wednesday, March 20thThe test on this novel will be multiple choice and a few student written answers.   Students will be able to use the novel, their packet, the character review sheet, and other Miss Agnes papers during the test.  The April book report is special. Third graders have a Biography Book Report  Presentation to which  parents are invited to attend. Each student will read a different biography and will “dress up” as the character that they read about. The presentations will be on the morning of Thursday, April 11th. Room 112 will present at 8:15 am and room 111 will present their reports at 9:15 am.  We hope that you can come. Details about the biography book report went home on 3/13/19.  Students must have their “biography person” approved.

Grammar:  Students continue to practice various grammar skills every day. The next grammar quiz will be on Friday, March 22nd.

Math:  Students will be learning about fractions as we begin unit 8.  The weekly Simple Solutions Quiz will be  on Friday, March 22nd.

Science: On Thursday. March 21st we will be going on our Agriculture Field Trip to the Children’s Farm in Palos Park.  This is sponsored by the Cook County Farm Bureau. Please have students dress warmly if it is cold since we will be in barns and outside.
