I’m back and am so excited to be here! These past two weeks I have spent getting myself reacquainted with the kiddos and gearing up to finish our year strong!
Here’s a look at what is going on the next two weeks in fourth grade:
Monday, March 27th
- Math Test Study Session after school 3-4pm pick up at dismissal
- Ch. 4 Study Guides due Monday for extra credit (study guides were given Thursday in class)
Tuesday, March 28th
- Math Morning Study Session begins at 7:15am

- Students should be dropped off at their regular drop off points and head into the classroom. School doors will open at 7:45 am to allow students time to put away their belongings and head to the church as a class. Please do not drop students off at the church. Staff will escort students who are late from the school to the church.

Math: We are wrapping up division with a test on Tuesday, March 28th. The past week (3/20-3/24) we have spent refreshing and reviewing the concepts in preparation. There is a study session after school Monday, March 27th from 3-4pm, students are welcomed to stay for some or all of it. It is optional. Study guides also went out and are optional/ due Monday for extra credit. Once we have wrapped up we will be tackling angles and using protractors. It is a quick miniature unit that the students are already somewhat familiar with. This will take us through to Spring Break!
Reading: Winn-Dixie has been a great novel study! The students and I have enjoyed reading and discussing the novel. We are inching closer to the end. Using the novel we will be working on using evidence from the novel to back our claims and create structured responses. We will also be identifying theme, completing character analysis, sequencing, and comparing and contrasting the novel to the movie. We will get to see if the book truly is better than the movie.
Spelling/Grammar/Writing: Our spelling list for the coming week will focus on silent consonants, complex consonants, We will look into the meaning of the words, completing analogies, as well as practicing our dictionary skills. In grammar we are working on parsing sentences, identifying subject verb agreement, prepositions/objects of the prepositions, editing using proof marks, and correcting fragment/run-on sentences.
Science: We are continuing our space exploration by looking at the planets in our Solar System. We will be looking at the inner and outer planet.
Social Studies: We are learning about current events and looking at primary sources. Students will also begin to develop and present current events.
Religion: Students are creating a pamphlet on a specific sacrament and then they will study each other’s sacraments. After which we will focus on Holy Week.
