We had a wonderful first week of 5th grade! It was so fun getting to know everyone a bit more in depth, and I can’t wait to see how much this class grows! We also started our book report presentations, which have been so much fun.
Rules and Procedures
We learned about rules and procedures of our classroom and of the school. It’s a lot to take in, but we’re going to keep practicing. I believe in us!
Chromebooks
Our Chromebooks were set up and everyone should have their new passwords. We know to treat these devices with respect, and have them charged before school starts. If there are any problems, let me know immediately. Students should bring fully charged headphones or earbuds to school. This will be important when we start i-Ready as there is an audio component.
Pencil War
Ask your student about the Pencil War! We have this put into place to encourage responsibility in taking care of their supplies, as pencils are a most coveted resource! Everyone has a black pencil case with at least 8 pencils in them and 2 erasers. I provided the first 5 pencils, students added 3 from their supplies. On Fridays after our last subject I count pencils to make sure none are damaged, students sharpen the pencils, and they are returned. People have been asking about whole class rewards… stay tuned. We will keep this fun and interesting!
