We begin each day with prayer followed by the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Then we move into the calendar–days of the week, months of the year, and, of course, all the fun holidays we have to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
From here we read a story – most of them this week have been ways to talk more about gratitude and Thanksgiving themes. We are finishing up with the letter Ff. F is for many wonderful concepts like Flowers, Frogs, and Fish! The movement for this letter is reducing your two parallel hands like a raft losing air…f,f,f,f,f. We are continuing to do tracing and freewriting of letters and our names. The students are getting much more comfortable with name tracing…I am starting to see many papers with freehand names or letters at the top! Very exciting!
We have been spending lots of time on turkeys and Thanksgiving! It is so important to “give thanks” for all our many blessings. We also talked about the Indians and pilgrims sharing talents, food, and friendship over a bountiful feast.
The best news is that we have been in-person learning now 12 weeks and we have completed the first trimester. Next week, Tuesday, is Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences–school will dismiss at 11:30am. If you have not signed up and would like to – you can reach out to me and I will make an alternate arrangement with you.
Please do work with your child on taking on and off their mask independently. It is best to supply at least three masks (more if your child is prone to allergies/congestion/frequently chews on mask).
We will continue to go outside every day for recess for 20-30 minutes – it is a good idea to dress warm and in play clothes. Our field can be a bit muddy. We will also keep at least two windows open/slightly cracked for air ventilation as long as possible. Do not hesitate to have your child bring in an extra sweater if they complain of it being cold in room.
Have a great week! And THANK YOU so much for all of your support! We are so grateful for our wonderful families!
