Junior Kindergarten January 22, 2021

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May this year bring us all health and happiness!

We have truly missed our JK friends! This week brought many review activities and learning games. We created a Friendship Oath. We discussed this as a promise or a resolution. What can we each do to make our classroom the best place to learn and grow? We signed this document, just as the President promised to give his best to our country. This seemed to make sense to give our classroom a “reset” after our time on vacation and remote learning! Our student-generated oath is on our classroom door as a reminder each day!

Religion: Next week we will begin talking about our celebration of Catholic Schools Week! Our Archdiocese year long theme is “We are Called.” We will be preparing for the celebration, looking at what we can do and how we are called to be a light for the world!

Literacy: After reviewing our Jolly Phonics we will begin to look at 3 letter words, such as big, can, sit…word families!

Math: We will work on the teen numbers. Number sense will include looking at the group of ten and the numbers on the side.

Science/ Social Studies: Let it snow! We will explore snow and melting ice and snow.

We believe the work of the child is PLAY! Our play center-based program helps each child develop many skills to be ready for Kindergarten!

If you have not sent in a box of 24 crayons, please do so soon! Our crayons get lots of use and need replacement!

Thank you!
