JK Newsletter, August 27

We had a great first full week of school! It has been a pleasure getting to know your children!
We have been very busy settling into our classroom, learning our daily routines, and making new friends.
A peek into next week:
Religion: We will be starting the “I am Special” unit.  We will be learning about what special gifts and talents your children have!
The kids have been very busy learning their prayers.  We have a Morning Prayer, Prayer before snack and lunch, and another one before we dismiss for the day.
Literacy:  We are starting our Jolly Phonics program next week.  We will focus on 2 letters a week.  We will also be using a phonemic awareness program too!
Math: We have been working with number recognition is the classroom. We practice this daily through calendar activities. and centers.
A few reminders:
  • Families were invited to attend the school mass this Tuesday. Please note, JK will NOT be attending the school mass.  However, your children will be visiting the church and statues around the school grounds often.  On a fun note, Father Dan has stopped to say Hi to our class twice this week.
  • Please make sure your child’s snack is one small item, a cheese stick, goldfish, fruit… please help your child choose one thing!
  • We are sending home a questionnaire for you to fill out to learn more about your child.  Please fill it out and send it back at your earliest convenience. 🙂

Have a great weekend!
