JK Newsletter – Sept 3rd

We had a great week settling into routine, gaining confidence in our classroom routines, and making new friends which comes with the fun of a new school year! We also enjoyed a blessing from Father Elmer to start off our week!

Religion: This week we talked about the many gifts God has given us that make us special! The children have also been learning prayers. They will be bringing home a prayer sheet with our prayers that we say each morning, end of the day, and also before snack and lunch.

Literacy: We had a fun week reading “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and doing many class activities to reinforce letter recognition.
This week we also focused on Jolly Phonics letter sounds for “S” and “A”. Please ask your child to show you the special signs for these sounds and letters.

Next week we will learn the sounds of “P” and “I”.

Math: We will continue to practice number recognition and formation through poems in centers and calendar time.

Social Studies/Science:
We have been very busy building our social skills. Please ask your child if they have had a chance to put a warm and fuzzy in our classroom bucket?  Catching them being kind and or helpful gives them a chance to fill our classroom bucket of positivity.

A few reminders:
* We have no school Monday September 6th.

* Please bring a family picture for our “JK Family” classroom board.

* A few parents have asked if we had any classroom needs.  We put together a few things on the Amazon wishlist below if you would like to help us out. 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend!
