Literature Newsletter – 10/11

6th Grade – We are in the middle of our novel The Egypt Game! The students will be finishing up the book in the next two weeks and then learning more about Egypt. We will read about Cleopatra, King Tut, and more. They will then conduct some research and make connections back to the novel.

7th Grade – We are wrapping up our novel study on My Brother Sam is Dead. The students will be starting their final paper next week – they will show how history is portrayed in a fictional format by comparing the novel to primary source documents we have read and discussed.

8th Grade – Ah what fools these mortals be! We are starting a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Students are assigned parts and they will be reading the play in both Shakespearean English and Modern English. The students will learn about how Shakespeare used both language and comedy in this classic play.
