News from Ms. Hays

Hello everyone, I’d like to give you an update on all that we are doing in literature class. We are studying the works of C.S. Lewis, specifically, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. We have studied the novel and are working to learn our lines for a play that is based off of the book. Our seventh graders are currently studying poetry in order to familiarize themselves with this genre. We are also working on a play that will be performed in the new year, Persians. This is the oldest existing play that was written. The eighth grade is reading the Diary of Anne Frank and also learning about the aspects of the holocaust that are related to the novel.

For science, the sixth grade is learning about weathering and deposition, while the seventh grade is studying cell division. Eighth grade is preparing to select their topics for the science fair. The theme this year is “What on Earth?” I’m looking forward to seeing their ideas for this event!
