What’s New in Language Arts? 5/25

6th Grade

This previous week, students began their study of  unit 13 in their Sadlier vocab books, kicking off the unit with an illustrated dictionary assignment. Later in the week, students completed their rough drafts of their oral history reports. Before submitting their final oral history assignment, students completed several revision activities focusing on introducing quotes, capitalizing proper nouns, and adding an interesting hook to engage the reader.

Next week, students will continue their study of vocab unit 13. They will also complete several targeted activities on Quill.org concerning possessive and plural nouns.

We will have our final vocab test on unit 13, Friday, May 29th from 12 to 12:30. Students will be able to access the test on Classroom. The test will be timed as usual; therefore, it is important for students to complete the test during the aforementioned time frame. If a student is unable to take the test during this time, please let me know so we can make alternative arrangements.

To celebrate the eighth grade class of 2020, the seventh graders concluded the week by creating virtual plaques on Canva; the plaques look fantastic and I’m incredibly excited to share them with the eighth grade class.

Next week, we will continue with our study of unit 13 vocab. Then, students will engage in the online debates, reading their peers’ arguments and writing responses.
