New Year – 5th Grade News

Hello and Happy 2021! I hope everyone is well after a month of festivities.

In 5th grade we are…

Science: Invention Convention is this week and we have started presenting to the class. As the inventions are being presented, it is so awesome to see how creative the Inventions are! We have a classful of talented students!

Social Studies: We started Unit 4, which starts the beginning of the American Revolution. This week we will be discussing the infamous Boston Tea Party, and how it affected the colonists.

English/Language Arts: In the novel, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, we are about 2/3 through, and are coming to the peak of the conflict. After our novel, we will be starting a book report project, and starting a short poem unit.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): We are finishing up discussing Responsibility this week, and will start discussing Peer Conflict next week.

Spelling: Unit 19 is this week’s spelling lesson. They are words with consonant changes.

Religion: We are finishing up Chapter 16 about Penance/Reconciliation. Chapter 17 is about the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
