Second-2-None: Week of 4-26

This past week, the class has talked about loving God and others. We’ve also continued to practice receiving Communion and had our second lesson in Growing with God.

They are doing quite well getting the grasp of data and graphs. This chapter is complete, with the exception of the review and test, which are next week. Then we will move on to the final chapter, which is geometry and fractions.

Language is always jam-packed with work. We read a second story about John Chapman, also known as Johnny Appleseed. After reading it, we were able to compare the two different stories. Also, the class created their very own Johnny Appleseed timeline. With Phonics, we looked at prefixes, how to add them and how they change the word’s meaning. We have also reviewed synonyms and antonyms, which is covered throughout the year with our grammar program, Shurley English. Speaking of grammar, the class has learned what a pronoun is and have begun to classify sentences with subject pronouns. It was a bit tricky at first, but they are getting the hang of it already.

We have begun to learn about weather in Science. The class has put together a little booklet on the four different types of cloud that were discussed in our text. We will also learn about seasons and how the different seasons affect living things.
