Week of 9/21
This week in Religion, we began a Sacraments craft project and began talking about Baptism. We looked at what Baptism is, discussed Original Sin and talked about receiving God’s grace.
In Language, we’ve been classifying sentences with a subject noun and verb. Starting next week, we will add adverbs and adjectives into the mix. We also continue to practice our vocabulary words. In Phonics, we continue to read and write short vowel words. In Reading, we are almost done with our 3rd story, “Friends Around the World” where we are looking at the lives of 4 different children around the world. We are comparing and contrasting their lives by using the text and illustrations.
In Math, we continue to work with numbers to 1,000. We will finish chapter 2 next week, with the test the following week. Then in Chapter 3, we will move on to basic facts and number relations.
We will finish our second unit in Science on Tuesday (9/29) with the test. The unit 2 pages were sent home on Wednesday, and more study pages were sent Thursday. Your child should study a little bit a day. If they are comfortable in answering the lesson review pages, they should do fine on the test. We’ll review as a class on Monday. Then, we will switch gears over to Social Studies mid-week. The first unit focuses on Communities.
