In Religion, we’ve taken a closer look at Baptism and spoke about what happens during this sacrament. We also began to look at the Sacrament of Confirmation, discussing how it fully fills us with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In Language, we’ve been classifying sentences with a subject noun, verb, and adverbs. The children are really beginning to pick this up. We practice our vocabulary words almost daily as well. In Phonics, we continue working on short vowels. We’ll begin long vowels next, after our unit test on short vowels. In Reading, we are done with our 3rd story, “Friends Around the World” and completed setting webs, comparing the different settings of the story.
In Math, we are almost done with Chapter 2, which looks at numbers to 1,000. The test will be on Wednesday, after a class review on Tuesday. On Thursday, we begin Chapter 3, which focuses on basic facts and number relations.
In Social Studies, we’ve looked at what are laws and why they are important. We’ll next discover what a community is and what can be found in different communities. For map skills, the class will use a map key, with symbols, to find various buildings and streets.
