This week we welcomed Mrs. Van Wyck to our class. The class is so excited to have her with us. She has already begun to teach Math!
We’ve begun to talk about the Liturgy of the Eucharist in Religion. We keep reviewing the various parts already learned to keep them fresh in our head. If you go to Mass, perhaps you can ask your child to point out when the Gospel or Homily have begun. If you watch it together at home, see if they can tell you a little about the Liturgy of the Word.
We continue to learn how to measure in inches and feet. We’ll continue with standard measurement next week and then move on to the metric system.
In Language Arts, we have been so busy. We’ve read a very informative nonfiction text entitled Disaster Alerts where we learned about volcanoes, tornadoes, bushfires, floods, and sinkholes. The class was fascinated by the information we learned. In Phonics, we’re learned about vowel pairs, and next week will be vowel digraphs. We’ve begun talking about recognizing topics and details of a paragraph in grammar, as well as continuing to classify sentences.
During Social Studies, we have been learning so much about governments, at the local, state and federal level. We’ve talked about symbols of our country and important people within our history. We’ll finish up with the Unit 4 test next Wednesday and move on to our country’s history, starting with the colonies.
