This week in Religion, we’ve finished looking at Baptism and will move on to Confirmation. We will discuss how it fully fills us with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In Grammar, we’ve been classifying sentences with a subject noun, verb, and adverb. Starting next week, we will add adjectives into the mix. We also continue to practice our vocabulary words and jingles. In Phonics, we continue to read and write short vowel words. In Reading, we are almost done with our 3rd story, “Friends Around the World” where we are looking at the lives of 4 different children around the world. We are comparing and contrasting their lives by using the text and later illustrations. We also practice our phonemic awareness a few times a week, calling it word play. Ask your child about it.
In Math, we continue to work with numbers to 1,000. We will finish chapter 2 next week, with the test the following week. Then in Chapter 3, we will move on to basic facts and number relations.
We will finish our second unit in science next week, with the test most likely on Friday. The unit will be sent home on Tuesday so that your child has a few days to study. We will also be doing a lot of reviewing in class. Your child should study a little bit a day. If they are comfortable in answering the lesson review pages, they should do fine on the test. After the test, we will switch gears over to Social Studies. The first unit focuses on Communities.
- Thursday, October 7, is PICTURE DAY! It is a dress up day for pictures. However, we have P.E. on Thursdays. So please send in the gym uniform for your child to change. If you are okay with your child wearing the picture outfit to P.E., please make sure it is comfortable for running/play. Remember, everyone should have gym shoes for recess and P.E.
- Friday, October 8, is White Sox dress down day. Don’t have anything Sox-related to wear. That’s OK … you can wear St. Cletus spirit wear too! So, dress down, and remember to wear gym shoes for P.E. class.
