Greetings to all, and happy new year! This week in sixth grade we learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. We specifically learned about The Montgomery Bus Boycott. We will be learning about examples of non-violence in the civil rights movement and also about the role of the church during this time. We are reading a story about the revolutionary war titled, My Brother Sam is Dead. In the story, we are learning about the political landscape of the American Colonies in 1776. The students are reading about the Egyptian Pharaohs and making connections about the similarities and differences that between our presidents and ancient Egyptian rulers. We continue to work on converting fractions to decimals in math and are making progress. The students also assisted their buddies in Mrs. Mullen’s class and helped them make a snowman for their craft.
