Hi Parents!
Happy October! October is starting off on the right foot with beautiful weather and lots of activities for us to do.
We have been very busy in first grade in all of our classes. In Religion, we are learning about the Holy Family, and how Jesus was when he was a little boy. We talked about St. Therese this week, and also our Guardian angels. On Friday we celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, and we have a special pet blessing at 4:00 for anyone who wants to come and have their special pets blessed.
In Math, we are learning different ways to add numbers. We are working very hard using math manipulatives and counters.
In Reading, we are reading short stories and also books of our choosing. We are doing book reports, and enjoying the variety of books at our level.
In Phonics we are learning how to sound out words, using digraphs and blends to lead us to great pronunciation.
We took our second Spelling test today, and did a good job.
In Social Studies, we are learning about school in the past, and right now. We have been looking at pictures of children in one room school houses, and realize how fortunate we are to be at St. Cletus school. It’s a great day to be a cardinal, you bet!!
