2.9-2.23 F.Y.I (Four Your Information)

Here’s a look at what is going on the next two weeks in fourth grade:

Tuesday, February 13th 

  • Mass: Students should be dropped off at their regular drop off points and head into the classroom. School doors will open at 7:45 am to allow students time to put away their belongings and head to the church as a class. Students arriving late should head straight to church. 

Wednesday, February 14th

  • Ash Wednesday
  • All School Mass 10 am
  • Valentine’s Day Part 2-3
  • Students are welcomed to bring treats or Valentines for the class. We have 24 students total. We do have Peanut and Tree Nut allergies so please be mindful of that when selecting treats! 

Friday, February 16th

  • Stations of the Cross @ 2:30pm
  • Mother Son Dance @ 6:30pm

Monday, February 19th

  • No School: Presidents’ Day

Tuesday, February 20th

Friday, February 23rd

  • Stations of the Cross @ 2:30pm
  • Ch. 4 Math Test

Math: We are wrapping up division chapter 4. Students are dividing up to 5 digits by a single divisor. They are also practicing checking their work by doing the inverse operation. We are also working on solving multiple step problems. There will be a test on Friday, February 23rd. There will be a study session offered on Thursday, February 22nd in the afternoon 3-4pm

Reading: Students will be working on various reading skills through various novels. 

Spelling/Grammar/Writing: In Grammar we will continue working on diagramming sentences. In Spelling we will be focusing on the j sound through dge, gy, gi. Students are drafting their biographical essays along with a free write. 

Science: Students are continuing to learn about Earth and Space. 

Social Studies: We are learning all about the Southwest Region! Students are studying the states and capitals within that region. Students will also be taking a test to identify the states and capitals within the region. They will be able to retake until they reach 100% mastery. We are learning about the Midwest region, specifically the land and water, natural resources, culture, and landmarks. 

Religion: We are familiarizing ourselves with the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching as well as taking a moment to talk about Lent and Ash Wednesday. 

Announcements/ Reminders: 

  • Please be sure to revisit the dress code for 1-4th grade. 
  • This winter season we have been going through our towels and tissues quicker than expected, so any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
