Welcoming a New Friend

Looking Back…
*Letter “Aa” was our first letter of the week.  We made alligators with circle eyes and triangle teeth.  Jolly Phonics began this week and we sang a song about ants on our arms.  We focused on the sound that the letter “Aa” makes and found lots of things that begin with that letter…like our friends, Abby and Alexandra.  It was so much fun.
*God gave us all names.  We began to identify our names in the pocket chart and counted the names to find out how many friends were in class each day.  We will continue to work with our names on our pocket chart for the rest of the year using different activities as our literacy skills progress.
*Counting and calendar activities were part of our Math focus all week long.  The Singing Walrus helped us to count to 10.  Counting the friends at our table helped us with the numbers 0 and 1 this week.  Numbers are everywhere and searching all around the school for them was exciting.
*Our 5th Grade Buddies helped us to learn all about the different procedures for going to Mass.  We learned how to approach the altar and receive a blessing.  Next week, we will begin to attend Tuesday Mass.
