09/30 Update

Greetings,

As we finish September, the first full month of the school year, please make sure that you are checking Classroom and PowerSchool regularly for updates on grades.  I have been reaching out to those families whose son or daughter may be missing assignments and consequently need to improve their grades with urgency.  Still, it’s a good habit for everyone to get into.

In Language Arts, all three grade levels have recently written descriptive essays and either have or will soon begin a grammar unit on nouns.

In Social Studies, Sixth Grade had been covering Ancient Mesopotamia and is moving into Ancient Egypt.  Seventh Grade has been covering the events leading up to the American Revolution.  Most seventh grade students have submitted their topics for History Fair too.  We will look at the next step of that process during the upcoming week.  Eighth grade has been working on a research project about the Abolition Movement.

Reminders for all students – Make sure your chromebooks are charged and with you each and every day.  Also, your parents spend their hard-earned money for you to be in the classroom, not the bathroom.  Please choose appropriate times to ask to use those facilities and try to limit your time in there too.

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

– Frederick Douglass
