10/14 Update

Greetings,

As I compose this update, our Seventh and Eighth Graders are attending the Holy Fire Retreat on the campus of UIC. Hopefully, this has been a meaningful experience for them as part of their spiritual growth and development.

In Language Arts, all three grade levels have either just completed or are nearly finished completing Unit 9, which focuses on nouns.  Again, students should be completing all grammar exercises in school and re enforcing those skills at home.  All exercises are reviewed and corrected in class, and then they can be used during the tests.  No test re-takes are allowed, nor are any extra credit opportunities available at this time. Please check Powerschool for any missing work, and students may turn that in for late credit.

In honor of the recent anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire, Eighth Grade has been covering that event in Social Studies.  Ironically, they are attending the retreat in the same vicinity if where the fire is believed to have begun.  Seventh Grade is continuing with the American Revolution.  Students were also responsible for turning in their History Fair Thesis Statements this week.  In Sixth Grade, we concluded our unit on Ancient Egypt.  As we get closer to the midterm elections, all three levels will be learning about the American election process.

I will continue to update Seventh Grade parents on History Fair matters as we move forward.  In addition to that, I will be sending Springfield Trip information home to Eighth Grade parents in the very near future too.
