3/31/23 News From Fifth

Hello 5th grade parents and families,

Happy Spring! Here is a snapshot of what we’ve been working on in fifth grade:

Social Studies: Students completed their “one-pager” project on important women in history. They will be completing a project on current events next.

Science: We have been studying Ecosystems and Energy, in which students are learning the following: What Are Roles of Organisms in Ecosystems? How Does Energy Move Through Ecosystems? What Roles Do Decomposers Play?

Reading: Students are learning about penguins in The Great Penguin Rescue while focusing on analyzing nonfiction texts and nonfiction text features.

Religion: We continue our Growing with God curriculum, learning about friendship, bullying, boundaries, physical and internet safety, and more.

Math: We have completed adding and subtracting decimals and are multiplying decimals. We will be dividing decimals very soon!

ELA: Students are learning to identify and use direct and indirect objects.

Other exciting information: Next week, students involved in the school musical Willy Wonka JR. are asked to attend mandatory after-school rehearsals until 4:30 Monday-Thursday, April 3-6. The musical will take place April 20th at 7:00, and April 21 at 4:00 and 7:00. We are SO excited to support our students who are participating!

There is no school next Friday, April 7th, as this day is the beginning of our Spring Break.

Mrs. Wrodarczyk will not be holding after-school math sessions next week, April 3-6.

Thank you for all your support at home. It’s a great day to be a Cardinal!
