4/25: News from 5th

Only 24 more days left… Can you believe it? This year has flown by!

Social Studies: We are finishing the move Westward, and we will be finishing the year off with the Civil War.

Science: This week we talked about the properties of sound and light. Both move in types of waves. Also, we know the difference between transparent, translucent, and opaque.

Grammar: Our focus this week has been using quotation marks correctly. Next week we will start using what we have learned about quotations to write a story with dialogue.

Reading: We listened to presentations for our 3rd Trimester Book Report projects. The class chose a book and group for our Literature Circles that we are starting next week. Every group of up to 5 students is reading a different novel. Each group will meet twice a week for a group discussion about their novel. Also, every student has a job for each discussion day that they use to share information with their group.

Religion: During the month of May we will be studying/discussing Mary, the Blessed Mother. We will be learning about her life and her faith that helped her become the Mother of Jesus.
