Now, let’s see what your children have learned recently!

ELA: We are making progress in our Opinion Piece Writing. The typed revisions are due on Monday, February 2nd. We are also learning about prefixes and suffixes so we are able to decode the meaning of unfamiliar words. They are doing so well in this topic! We are also about halfway through our second batch of 100 (more) vocabulary words! So exciting!

Science: The Consumer Fair projects turned out so well! The students are very prepared for next year’s science fair! I am very impressed at all of the effort put into this project, and especially their thoughts on how they could improve their current testing. We have now returned to the wonderful world of food webs.

Math: We continue to work on adding and subtracting our fractions. I have seen a vast improvement in finding the least common denominators… I see lots of those lightbulb moments happening. We have one more lesson, then we will have a test on fractions. I feel very confident in their abilities with fractions. Keep practicing at home!

Religion: We have concluded our Confirmation Study, and have moved to studying the Eucharist. This will be our final Sacrament of Christian Initiation. Then, we will begin our study of the Sacraments of Healing.

Reading: The students are loving Number the Stars and really engaging with the story, making wonderful predictions, and having really thoughtful conversations about what it means to be brave. We are almost finished with the novel, and will complete a small project on the characters and have a test in a couple of weeks.

i-Ready: The Winter Diagnostic is finally complete! I am very proud of the students’ progress and improvements. Please celebrate their achievements, they have worked so hard and have come so far.
