ELA (English Language Arts)

We have entered our Readers Theatre’s unit. This is one of the last units this year, focusing on being able to work together in a group, and analyzing the vocabulary in our readers’ theater story. We are starting with the reading “Cinder…Really? (a spin off of cinderella   

Next, we are going to work on the performance piece of the readers theater with props,tone and voice!

Math

Religion

We have been exploring and continuing to explore lessons 9+10 focusing on forgiveness.

  • Determining what forgiveness is and why it is important in our catholic faith.
  • We’ll also continue our Bible Study, reflecting on parables and stories to deepen our faith and understanding.(We are going to start Mark chapter 28.)

Upcoming: we will be taking a short quiz/test on lesson 9.

Reading

We have started our new novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. We will be reading and studying this novel for the next few weeks. Students have a reading packet that they will be working on throughout the week, keep in a lookout for that. I will be collecting at the end of the unit for points. 

Weekly Reminder:

Miss Pretzie’s students now have a reading log! This reading log is to keep track of your child’s reading progress. It is turned in every week to earn five points for reading 20 minutes everyday!


Every Friday, students will take a quiz on their vocabulary words for that week. Quizzes can be corrected for half-credit recovery.

Science

We have just finished our ecosystem unit. We did our terrarium lab too. The students loved it. We are moving right along into our human body unit. We are learning all about the different systems in our bodies and how they work together to help us live the way we do in our everyday life.

Up next, students can look forward to a human body respiratory lab!

Social Studies We are still on the road to the revolutionary war.We are finishing up chapter 9, and moving into chapter 10.

  We are currently practicing note taking and working on our note cards, we are also working on our summarizing skills. We have just finished learning about the end of the Revolutionary time where George Washington established the Treaty of Paris and there was a celebration of our independence.Now we are going to talk about 1777-1779 what happened due to the aftermath of the Revolutionary War. looking into chapter 10.

Upcoming: chapter 10 the Bill of Rights.
