ELA (English Language Arts)

We have entered our Readers Theatre’s unit. This is one of the last units this year, focusing on being able to work together in a group, and analyzing the vocabulary in our readers’ theater story. We are starting our third theatre piece “Little Red Boxer Shorts”

Next, we are going to work on the performance piece of the readers theater with props,tone and voice! We got one more to go! Princess and the potato.

Math

Religion

We are moving into chapter 12 in our religion textbook. We are working on creating our “magazine cover for Jesus’ healing miracles”.

Upcoming: We will be taking our chapter 12 religion quiz next week. 

Reading

We are starting our last novel Holes by Louis Sachar. We will be reading and studying this novel till the end of the year.

 Students have a reading foldable they will complete weekly, that they will be working on throughout the week, keep in a lookout for that. I will be collecting at the end of the unit for points. 

Weekly Reminder:

Miss Pretzie’s students now have a reading log! This reading log is to keep track of your child’s reading progress. It is turned in every week to earn five points for reading 20 minutes everyday!


Every Friday, students will take a quiz on their vocabulary words for that week. Quizzes can be corrected for half-credit recovery.

Science

We are currently working on traits in our science unit. What traits get passed down how traits get passed down, we have been having so much talking about who we resemble and what traits we got from who.

Up next, students can look forward to a quiz on variation of trait Wednesday of next week.

Social Studies We have just finished chapter 10 and taken our chapter 10 unit test.

 We are currently practicing note taking and working on our note cards, we are also working on our summarizing skills. We are moving into chapter 11. This chapter is going to talk about what Washington did during his presidency, political parties and the Louisiana Purchase.
