Greetings,
With only a few days left, there isn’t much to update you on. I do want to take this time to thank all of you for an overwhelmingly memorable school year. In all sincerity, I can’t think of a school year as both a teacher and as a student that had been more enjoyable than this one.
The previous school that I had taught at was the same school that I attended as a child. Throughout high school and college, I taught religious ed there and worked before and aftercare during the school year and maintenance during the summers. When I left for St. Cletus, I didn’t think it would be possible to ever have a more difficult time leaving a workplace than that. Nine years later, that seems to pale in comparison.
Nine years is a short time in one’s entire life, but what has happened within those nine years has been life changing. Some things that I’ll remember the most are changing the way that I had to teach practically overnight in March 2020; working with the other teachers to provide successful and safe in-person learning the following year; stopping in the middle of a grammar lesson to rush to the hospital as my daughter was being born; and four years later, getting a text from my wife while I was eating my lunch to tell me that we were expecting again. In addition to that, meeting dozens and dozens of families and co-workers whom I have enjoyed being around.
Enjoy your summer! For those of you leaving St. Cletus too, I hope that the next part of your life is just a special. For those of you staying, I hope that you cherish your time here and keep it a special place. Thank you again for all of your support. Most importantly, thank you parents for trusting me to be responsible for what is most precious to you.
