Tales of the Third Grade EVERYTHING

Hello Third Grade Families,

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend!!  Please mark Thursday March 23rd on you calendars so that you can attend our presentation of the Stations of the Cross.  Stations begin at 2:30 and take about 20 to 25 minutes.

Tuesday, March 14th  8:00 am Mass.  Children should bring their recorders and music to school today and EVERY Tuesday

Wednesday March 15th: PBIS assembly

Thursday, March 16th:  11:00 Stations of the Cross.    

Friday, March 17th: GREEN DRESS DOWN DAY and a  visit from the Trinity Irish Dancers

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What we are doing in class this week ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Religion:   We will continue to learn about the ways in which the church celebrates the Christian initiation sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.  We will also learn about the healing Sacraments of healing Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick.     Our class will present the Stations on March 23rd.  Station assignments will be given out soon.  Stations DO NOT need to be memorized.

Social Studies: Students will learn about the various physical environments: including climate, landforms and natural resources. Students will also learn how people and places change and adapt to each other. We will continue learning about the many different Presidents this country has had.  

Math:  This week the students will learn how to use arrays, bar models, and related multiplication facts to solve division. Simple Solution Lessons 97 – 100 should be completed by Thursday March 9th.  

Spelling:   Spelling words for the week are a review of the past Five units.

Phonics:   This week the students will learn how to ID words with suffixes (-s. -es, -er, and est) and endings (-ed, -ing)

Reading:   The class will begin reading the story “Back of the Bus”.

My name is Lisa Gearen. I started teaching at St. Cletus in 2003. I taught first grade for 14 years and now teach 3rd. I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University.
