Tales of the Third Grade Everything

Hello Third Grade Families,

Congratulations Shawn House on making your First Communion on Saturday May 6th.  So very proud of you!!  

Grace Mosqueda was the PBIS winner this past Friday.

The theme for our THIRD GRADE FAMILY picture wall in May will be Mother’s Day.  Pictures should include your child and their mom.   Please send in pictures Monday May 8th.

The students will be bringing home the May: Book report directions and poster paper May 8th.  May Prayer “Hail Mary” will be recited on May 15th.  Book Reports will be presented on May 22nd.

Tuesday, May 9th:   Children should bring their recorders and music to school today and EVERY Tuesday.  We will attend 8:00 am Mass.

Wednesday May 10th:  If you purchased 4 PJ days as an auction item your child should wear their PJ’s today.  

Friday, May 12:  PURPLE DRESS DOWN DAY to raise funds for the VIOLET foundation.  Children are encourage to donate a dollar or ma=ore participate in this dress down day.

Religion: The students will be attending the May Crowning Mass Monday at 9:30.  During the week the class will be 

Math:  The students will take the test for Chapter 12 on Wednesday May 10th.  We will then begin a new chapter about fractions. 

Science:  The class will begin a chapter talking about air water, plants, animals soil and fossil fuels as natural resources.  

Reading:  Our new story is “Brave Girl” by Michelle Markel.  The story is about Clara Lemlich, a young Ukrainian immigrant who lead the largest strike of women workers in US history.    

Phonics:  The class will being Unit 6 in our Phonics Books.  This week we will review the meanings of the following prefixes:   .     

Spelling:  The spelling words are a review of Units 25 to 29.

My name is Lisa Gearen. I started teaching at St. Cletus in 2003. I taught first grade for 14 years and now teach 3rd. I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University.
