Third Grade News and Up Coming Events

Religion:  The students are working hard to make the Christmas Program a special even for our St. Cletus Families.  As the students are preparing for the performance they are also hear the story of the Jesse Tree through songs and stories about each ornament on the tree.  Please plan on attending the performance this Tuesday at 7:00pm.  The students MUST be at school no later than 6:45 Tuesday December 14th.  Students should also wear festive Christmas attire.  PLEASE no hats.  

Reading:  This week we will be reading stories about Christmas in different countries.  The students will read informational texts and then answer comprehensive questions.  Please reread and enjoy these stories with your children as they bring them home.

Writing  and Spelling: Our words this week will be centered around the Christmas season.  In class we will be creating games and doing activities to help us learn to spell these words.  At home please work with your child to add these words into their Christmas stories they started writing this past in Class.   

Phonics:  The students will work more with R -Controlled vowels.

Math:  Our Math Chapter 4 has us working with both the Distributive and Associative Properties of Multiplication as well as learning the multiplication fact of  7.  

Social Studies:  Students will be working on a Chapter review of vocabulary words and comprehensive questions about the material covered in the Unit.  The test will be on Wednesday December 14th.

Monday December 13th:  All School Mass at 9:30.

Tuesday December 14th: 8:00am Mass.  Christmas Program at 7:00pm in the Church.  Students should arrive NO LATER than 6:45 and dress in festive Christmas clothes.  PLEASE NO HATS.

Thursday December 16th:  Vision and Hearing Screening.

Friday December 17th:  Spirit Wear Dress Down Day.

My name is Lisa Gearen. I started teaching at St. Cletus in 2003. I taught first grade for 14 years and now teach 3rd. I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University. I also have an associates degree in Early Childhood Education as well as being a Certified Catechist.
