Religion: This week we will be completing work from Chapter 5 in our book. As a class we will talk about the ways that the followers of Jesus showed their faith when Jesus was with them physically. Then we will talk about ways that we show our faith in Jesus today. Students will be reciting the February prayer to me on Tuesday the 15th. Please be sure to review the prayer with your child as well as how to properly make the Sign of the Cross.
Reading: We will be staring a Historic Fiction Novel in class this week about a town in Alaska called “The Year of Miss Agnes. Each week the class will read four chapters and answer questions about the story using GOOGLE CLASSROOM ~ CLASSWORK. The link to the story is located on a the STREAM tab of GOOGLE CLASSROOM. The students know how to access the story on savvasrealize.com. The Username for the account is: lgearen@stcletusparish.com The Password for the account is Firstgrade108. If the students do not finish the work during the day they are encouraged to work on it at home as well.
Spelling: This week our spelling unit is a review of Units 13 – 17. Home work for the week will be any UNFINISHED classwork. We will have our usual spelling tests on Friday
Phonics: We will review the rules for changing a singular word that ends in -f or -fe to a plural by adding -es. The class will also practice doubling the final consonants when adding -ing and -ed.
Math: This week I will be giving the students a daily 5 minute multiplication fact quiz. Each quiz contains 20 facts. Students will remain on the same test until passed. These quizzes are designed to help the students with their speed and fluency. Along with the quizzes this week we will be reviewing the concepts of Chapter 5 both in class and as homework. Please be sure that your child completes the EVEN numbers (BE SURE THAT THEY SHOW THEIR WORK!!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN STRESSING THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS TO BECOME A HABIT SO THAT THEY DO IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THEIR SCHOOL MATH CAREERS.) at home and brings them back the next day to go over and check their answers. The students will take the Chapter 5 Test on Tuesday February 22nd.
Science: Our chapter on the Advances in Technology over the years is coming to an end. This week we will be looking at the ways Technology effects our society. As well as the effects that we have on Technology.

Monday February 14th: Valentine’s Day Party and Pink and Red Dress Down Day. Thank you to all who sent in items for the party and those who are coming to the room to help with the activities. We really do appreciate all that everyone does to make our year more fun.
Tuesday February 15th: February prayer will be recited to me today. Please be sure to review the SIGN OF THE CROSS with your child as well. We will be attending 8 am Mass. Please be sure to have your child at school by 7:45 so that the class can get to Church on time.
Friday February 18th: NO SCHOOL MONDAY
