Religion:  This week in Religion we will be talking about how Jesus came to live among us and teach about God’s love.  Please remember that we will be attending Mass at 8:00am on Tuesday mornings.  The school doors open at 7:45 so that students can get to their rooms to put their things away and walk over to Mass together.  Before coming to school please have your child go to the washroom.

Reading:  The class will continue reading about the mysteries that Drake and Nell solve scientifically for their friends.  The students have really enjoyed reading the story and asking their own questions about what they just read.

Spelling:  We finished out first five chapters in spelling and have come to a UNIT review chapter.  As we work in our spelling curriculum this week the students will be working with words from the first five units.  There will be twenty words on the list for the students to memorize for the Friday test.

Grammar:  Now that October is here, the students will be writing a story about a witches’ adventures.  The class will be generating words to help them be descriptive in their writing.  Students will also be completing story webs and maps to help them organize their thoughts before they begin writing their story.  These papers will be coming home so that the students can work on them.

Math:  The students will be starting chapter two.  During this chapter they will be working with the various types of graphs.  We will be filling in the data supplied and then creating another graph based on that information.

Science:  The class will be working with the different forms of measurement: scales, rulers, tape measures, measuring cups and other tools to gather information.
