Third Grade News and Up Coming Events May 16th to 20th

If your child finishes their Sci Fi Book Report project earlier than the 27th they are encouraged to bring it to school and present.

Our class has decided that we will be wearing the color blue for field day on June 2nd.  

Please note that our last day of school is June 3rd.  Administration has changed the dismissal time from 1:00pm to 11:00am.  There will NOT be any aftercare offered on the last day of school.

Religion: During the week the class will learn the meaning of Mass and Sacrifice as they apply to the Catholic Faith.  We will talk about the different ways we can become part of the Mass in our Church.

Reading:  Our story this week is called “The Song of Sky and Sand”.

Spelling:  Spelling words this week contain double consonants followed by the letter Y.

Phonics: The work this week will have the class reading and writing words with prefixes and dividing them into syllables.

Math: The class will divide models to make equal shares. . The class will learn to use fractions to name one part of a whole that is divided into equal parts (thirds, fourths, fifths).

Science:  The class will learn the effects of water, erosion, and wind on the earth’s surface.

Thursday May 19th:  Third Pajama Day if purchased from the Spring Auction

Friday May 20th:   Spirit Wear Dress Down Day

Sunday May 22nd:  Family Mass at 10:30

Thursday May 26th:  $1.00 Dress Down Day to support the funding of the Church’s sound system.

Friday May 27th:  Sci ~ Fi Book Reports Due.  If your child finishes their project earlier than the 27th they are encouraged to bring it to school and present.

My name is Lisa Gearen. I started teaching at St. Cletus in 2003. I taught first grade for 14 years and now teach 3rd. I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University.
