Third Grade News and Up Coming Events ~ May 23rd to 27th

REMINDERS:  For the END OF THE YEAR

If you have any of our hard covered books: Spelling or Social Studies PLEASE return them by Friday May 27th

If you have any LIBRARY books they are also due back Friday May 27th!!!!!

Friday May 27th:  ALL Science Fiction Book Reports are DUE.  If your child finishes their projects early they are welcome to bring them to school and present them.  Gabbi Keene did an amazing job with her presentation.  GREAT job Gabbi!!!

Thursday June 2nd:  Field Day ~ Our class has decided to wear BLUE as our team color.

Friday June 3rd:  Last Day of School ~ Dismissal at 11:00 (Please beware that there will NOT be aftercare on this day.)

Religion:  This week we will talk about worshipping at Mass.  The students will learn about these parts of the Mass:  INTRODUCTORY RITES :  first part of the Mass where we prepare to listen to God’s Word and to celebrate the Eucharist.  Liturgy of the Word being the second part of the Mass in which we listen and respond to God’s Word.  Liturgy of the Eucharist where the bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ. Lastly the students will explore Concluding Rites that remind us to continue praising and serving God each day.

Reading:  Our final story for the year is “Below Deck: A Titanic Story”  The story can be found on our Google Classroom Stream Page.  Please take sometime and read the story with your child at home.  

Spelling:  The kids have done a great job this year with the spelling lists.  Our final list contains words that and in -e or have the suffix -ing.  Our final spelling test will be Friday May 27th.

Phonics:  We will continue identifying how to break words into syllables.  

Math: Students will represent and locate fractions on a number line.  They will how to make a whole numbers fractions and recognizing fractions that are equivalent to whole numbers.  

Science: The class will read about what water does to change the earth’s surface. We will learn what causes erosion.  They will also discover what a glacier is.

Sunday May 22nd:  Family Mass at 10:30am

Thursday May 26th:  $1.00 Dress Down Day to raise money for the new sound system in the church.  

Friday May 27th:  Science Fiction Book Reports are due.  If your child finishes their project early they are welcome and encouraged to bring it to school.  If you have any of our hard covered school books Social Studies or Selling PLEASE return them today.  Library books are due back today as well.

Monday May 30th: NO SCHOOL in celebration of Memorial Day!!  Enjoy the weekend!!!

Wednesday June 1st: Spirit Wear Dress Down Day!!  Bring a sweet treat for afternoon snack!!

Thursday June 2nd:  Dress Down in BLUE today for field day!!  Come to school ready to play hard and have fun!!!!

Friday June 3rd:  We Made IT!!!  Last Day of School!!!!!!!!!!  Please send the kids to school dressed up (nice shorts or dress pants and shirt or pretty dress)  We will be gong to 9:30 Mass today to start the summer off right!! Please join us if your schedule allows.

I have a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters in Elementary Education. I received both degrees from Concordia University.
