ELA- We having been working hard on our grammar skills. We have been working through different stories and finding all the grammar mistakes within. The students are also required to write a journal every morning. We will be working on some fun creative thanksgiving writing next! They have a specific time allotted for journal and will be graded on their work at the end of the trimester, I suggest asking your students to go through and check their journals. We have been working hard on our vocabulary words. The class needs to keep all of their notecards from these vocab words to make sure they have them to study. There will be a test on the first 5o words on Halloween!
6th Literature- We have finished Freak the Mighty. We will start working on building our plot diagram! This story really had us feeling so many emotions. It really showed how friendships can grow between any two people.
7th Literature- Students have finished reading The Giver. Last week, they worked on a literary analysis of the story. Students worked very hard on these essays. The students have a test on The Giver this week. We will be working on a study guide, and students will be able to use the guide to study. Next week, we will read a few short stories before we jump into our next novel.
8th Literature- Students have been reading about Katniss’ journey in the game so far. They are seeing all the different emotions she has had and all the different ways she is trying to survive. We have some emotional parts coming up, and students will do a new mini project that they will need to present to the class.
Our Dual Language Immersion Kindergarten are having a cereal drive! If we can each bring in one box of cereal that would be so great to show our support for this great food drive!

Junior High Class Model:
Along with various specials teachers, students will be switching for Social Studies (Mrs. Van Wyck), Science (Ms. Fogle) and Religion (Mr. Ochoa) throughout the week. This gives students a feel for switching courses and having many different teachers and teacher expectations as they prepare for high school.
