Happy last Friday of March! Before we get into what we’ve been up to in our room, here are some upcoming things to note:
April 4th: We are reading Stations of the Cross. Please join us in the church at 2:30pm.
April 5th: Spring Auction Vegas Night! 6-10:30pm
April 11th: Living Stations of the Cross. 8th grade acts out each station and it is very moving and beautiful. This will start at 2pm.
April 12th: Feed My Starving Children parish trip at 10:30am
April 13th: Pancake Breakfast 7:30am-12:30pm. We are still in need of volunteers, please consider signing up here.
Here’s what we’ve been learning:
ELA: We just took a phonics test on prefixes, suffixes, and root words. Our next unit will be all about compound words!
Reading: Do you believe in curses? Is Stanley really destined for bad luck, or can he turn his life around at Camp Green Lake?? We’re diving deep into the themes of the story, character motivations, and predictions on how the supposed family curse will affect Stanley. Stay tuned!
Social Studies: We are just about to finish up the French and Indian War. Next up… it’s revolution time!!!!
Religion: We are continuing to learn about the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. Next week, we will practice Stations of the Cross! Talk to your child about the importance of the story of Jesus’ suffering and what it means for us 2,000 years later.
Science: Our focus in this lesson is on food webs and what happens when one organism is removed from that web. It’s devastating! The students just had a quiz on the food web. Next week we will spend reviewing all of Unit 3, which is all about how matter and energy move around!
i-Ready: Everyone continues to do so well with their lessons. Our PJ and ice cream party will be very soon….
That’s all for now. I am so proud of this group!
