May 22nd: Sports Awards Night in the PC – 6pm

May 23rd: 2pm dismissal. No aftercare!

May 26th: Memorial Day – No school!

Here’s what we’ve been learning:

ELA: Our spelling skills are improving and I am so proud! We will continue to have spelling tests on Fridays, except the last day of school. Unless…

Science: Our biggest science news is that we went to the Shedd Aquarium on May 1st! It was a BLAST!!!! A folder with photos from myself and the chaperones has been created and will be shared very soon. I am glad everyone could join us. We will continue to learn about ecosystems and how organisms interact with nonliving things. Ask your child about their African savanna drawings. I think they really channeled their inner Picassos.

Social Studies: We’ve identified some of the most important people of the American Revolution and next will be battles!

Reading: We are about halfway through our novel Holes. Each week, we get a new tri-fold to help us keep track of plot points and help us develop our skills, such as making inferences, making connections to the novel with our own lives, and sequencing.

i-Ready: We are going to start the diagnostic next week. We will test in the mornings for only 40 minutes. Please make sure your child goes to bed at a reasonable time and eats a breakfast, whether that’s a full meal before leaving for school or something small in the car. Anything helps!

Religion: We completed our Religion Assessment today and the kids did wonderfully! We will start Growing with God and Bible Study next week. I am really looking forward to our discussions in Growing with God as these are important skills to have, such as setting boundaries!

That is all! A link will be sent out shortly with field trip photos. Have a great weekend!
