It has been a great couple of weeks in 5th grade! October is going to be a lot of fun. We need help with our Halloween party on the 31st. Please email me if you are interested.
Science: We finished up our unit on the engineering process and started learning about the states of matter. We did some hands on exploration of how to measure matter using rulers, balances, seeing how much water was displaced by an object, and using a scale. The students will have a quiz on Monday to demonstrate what they have learned.
Religion: After an overview of all of the Sacraments, we have begun to learn more about the Sacraments of Christian Initiation!
Social Studies: We are learning about the various tribes of the Native Americans like the Pueblo, Iroquois, Navajo, and more. The students are practicing their comparing and contrasting skills with this subject.
ELA: We are continuing Phonics, learning about vowel pairings and studying vocab words. The students are learning more than how to spell and pronounce; we are learning about synonyms, antonyms, examples, and non-examples.
Reading: The book reports look wonderful! I love seeing how creating the students can get. We’ve had a few presentations so far and I hope to finish them up next week. Our next book report will be Realistic Fiction.
i-Ready: We are now working every day in i-Ready. Every student will have their own Math and Reading goals to work towards for the year and I look forward to preparing individualized help for everyone.
