Math- We are finishing working on decimal operations. We took our module test today and will finish the test on Monday! We will be doing some math review next week on everything we have learned so far! After we finish a few days of review, we will move onto rates and ratios!
ELA- We are continuing to work on different grammar skills in writing. We have been working hard on our vocabulary words. You can tell the students are really trying their best this trimester with vocab. The students are also required to write a journal every morning. They have a specific time allotted for journal and will be graded on their work at the end of the trimester, I suggest asking your students to go through and check their journals
6th Literature- We have been reading the short story “The King of Mazy May”. This story is very interesting and we are making connections on how our life is different from the life of the boy in the story. We are excited to see where this story goes, and the students are interested to see what happens with the dogs sledding.
7th Literature- This week for 7th grade, we are reading “Rikki Tikki Tavi”. The students are interested in seeing what happens in this book and seeing all the different ways the author foreshadows what will happen in the story. I’m very impressed with how well they are doing reading this story, and hearing all their theories on how it will end.
8th Literature- We are have been reading ” The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. This is a tough read, with some really hard vocabulary. The students are doing a good job with keeping up and working to paraphrase the story in a way that is easier to understand.
Junior High Class Model:
Along with various specials teachers, students will be switching for Social Studies (Mrs. Van Wyck), Science (Ms. Fogle) and Religion (Mr. Ochoa) throughout the week. This gives students a feel for switching courses and having many different teachers and teacher expectations as they prepare for high school.
