Week of October 20th, 2025
Important Dates to Remember:
October 27th – Start of Red Ribbon Week. Dress down day wear pink
- October 28th – Regular uniform day… but crazy sock day
- October 29th – Decades day, dress from your favorite decade
- October 30th – Hawaiian shirt day/comfy clothes day
- October 31 – Wear your Halloween costume, trunk or treat @1:45PM
- November 4 – McTeacher night 4-6PM

ELA (English Language Arts)
This week, we assessed our knowledge on author’s purpose. Why Authors write certain stories for different reasons. We also started to write our own persuasive essay on a chosen topic by your child.
We also just dove into our phonics unit 2 double vowel digraphs! Up next: We will be reading a series of picture books and determining what the theme of the stories are.
Math

Religion
We’ve just finished our lesson 3 in our religion book. We took a test on lesson 1,2,3 and are starting lesson 4.
Next week, we’ll begin exploring:
- Lesson 4
- The celebration baptism
- New life in Christ.
We’ll also continue our Bible Study, reflecting on parables and stories to deepen our faith and understanding.(Mathew chapters 1,2,3,4,5,6)
Reading
We have started a new novel “The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster. We will be reading and studying this novel for the next few weeks. Students have a reading packet that they will be working on throughout the week, keep a lookout for that.
Weekly Reminder:
Every Friday, students will take a quiz on their vocabulary words for that week. Quizzes can be corrected for half-credit recovery.
Science
We’ve just wrapped up our unit on Law of gravity. Next week, we’re jumping into the Energy transfer.
We’ve got an exciting lab planned for this next week that students are going to love — hands-on science is always a favorite!
Social Studies
We ended our unit 2 on Native Americans and took our unit 2 test. We started our new chapter, chapter 3. We have begun going down Asia’s silk road learning about the three major kingdoms of West Africa.
Up next we will be going back in time to the renaissance and learning about how the viking lived during that time.
