Week of November 24th, 2025
Important Dates to Remember
- November 25th – 11:30AM dismissal, NO AFTER CARE, parent teacher conferences 12:30-8PM
- November 26th, 27th, 28th – No school, Thanksgiving break
ELA (English Language Arts)
This week we have started our new writing unit on opinion writing. Learning about what elements go into an opinion writing piece, what the structure of an opinion piece looks like. In phonics we have finished up unit 2 and will take our unit 2 test later this week.
After Thanksgiving break students will be choosing a topic to write about, something in their opinion, or their point of view. We will also be starting to look at unit 3 in our phonics book and start to focus on suffixes and prefixes.
Math

Religion
We are in the middle of lesson 5 in our religion book. We are working on preparing for our lesson 4 test.
next week, we will be finishing lesson 5, and exploring we’ll begin exploring:
- Lesson 6
- The meaning on the “celebration”
We’ll also continue our Bible Study, reflecting on parables and stories to deepen our faith and understanding.(Mathew chapters 15,16,17)
Reading
We are currently reading the novel “The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster. We will be reading and studying this novel for the next few weeks. Students have a reading packet that they will be working on throughout the week, keep a lookout for that.
Weekly Reminder:
Every Friday, students will take a quiz on their vocabulary words for that week. Quizzes can be corrected for half-credit recovery.
Science
We’ve just started our unit on weathering and erosion. Next week, we’re jumping into the different types or rocks we see in our everyday life.
We’ve got an exciting project planned for next week that students are going to love! Working with starburst — who doesn’t love working hands on… with candy!
Social Studies
We are continuing our new chapter, chapter 4. Very fitting of the holiday coming up we are talking about the Pilgrims voyage and the celebration of the “First Thanksgiving”. Ask your child why we celebrate Thanksgiving. They have the history in their brains!
Up next we will be learning about the start of the 13 colonies. The middle and New England colonies the the Southern Colonies and their rules and how they got along.
